Different kinds of music I have come across and what I think of them.

Jazz

11.09.2026

I have not listened to jazz for very long, but lately I have been trying to familiarize myself with it. There is a huge amount of jazz out there, and I am still figuring out what I actually like.

Wes Montgomery's Bumpin' was one of the records that I liked. I like the relaxed sound and it was easy to listen, you can zone out and forget you even are listening to the album. It inspired me to try to look for more.

So far I seem to like relaxing jazz the most, like smooth jazz, especially recorded/mastered well, it has to tickle my ears, or usually not, but it is a great feeling.

Flamenco & Acoustic

I really like flamenco and acoustic music. I especially enjoy Jesse Cook, Govi, and Acoustic Alchemy.

I like the sound of the instruments themselves and the amount of space they can have in a recording, especially if it is done well. Latin inspired / acoustic music is very easy to get into, and every song can vary, one song can be upbeat, one can be more emotional. In a sense they tell a kind of story, mostly that you have to imagine yourself.

Drum & Bass

I have also been getting into drum and bass. Pendulum was one of the things that got me interested in it. I listened to Hold Your Colour a while back and really liked it.

I like the combination of the fast rhythm and the more melodic side of the music. It is energetic without being completely unbearable to listen to.

Trance

11.09.2026

I love trance, I have a collection of trance songs I listen to, but it's not really that big, I'm having a trouble finding new great trance songs.

Artists that I can name of the top of my head is Querox, Phaxe, Klopfgeister, Day.Din. I would be very interested in recommendations.

If you know some good trance that you think I might like, send me an email .

Rap

11.09.2026

I do not like rap very much in general, but I can definitely make exceptions. There are rap songs with great rhythms, good melodies, and, rarely, good messages.

A lot of rap just is not for me. I can usually expect some bizarre music and themes about being the best, having the most money, or generally being better than everyone else. That is the part I do not really like.

There are plenty of interesting exceptions, though. Some 2Pac, Ice Cube, Eminem, Wu-Tang Clan, and MF DOOM have songs I really enjoy.

I would recommend giving them a listen even if rap normally is not really your thing.

Metal

11.09.2026

I tried getting into metal once, and it was not particularly easy. There was a lot that I did not understand or enjoy.

Then I discovered Rammstein.

That introduced me to a completely different side of music. It took some getting used to, but they have some really cool songs. Also I figured that listening to Rammstein makes you feel pretty badass, for literaly anything you are doing.
